We got off to a great start after all the students settled into our beautiful housing at Roth House on the Stanford Campus. Students arrived from New York, Connecticut, Jordan, Minnesota, California, Oklahoma, India, Belgium, Korea and Virgina: a truely diverse group!
Dr. Tesa Leonce, Academic Director has thus far, presented excellent and informative seminars on Models of Leadership, the United Nations, and writing resumes. The students presented a remarkable model UN, presenting points of views from several countries. Dr. Arthur Kian gave a seminar on International Relations, via Skype from France, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. It ended with a debate on the pros and cons on the current situation in Syria, centering on US military intervention.
On Saturday we took an excursion into San Francisco. First we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge, then visited the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art where we viewed the Getrude Stein Exhibition full of many Matisse and Picasso paintings, and photography exhibits. After a picnic lunch in union square, we had an afternoon of shopping and a stroll along fisherman's wharf and embarcadero, where we were entertained by street actors and musicians.
