Game night...are we having fun yet? |
This week has been action packed and filled with lots of intellectual information as well as activities. Dr. Arthur Kian presented two excellent seminars on International Relations which everyone participated in. Covering topics from genocide in Yugoslavia, to nuclear proliferation, the students engaged in a lively discussion including possible solutions to these larger global problems that face our world leaders today.
They also had a seminar on college essays and resumes, which encouraged them to focus on their upcoming years and personal goals. Our guest speaker Mr. Geoff Skigen presented an inspiring and informative seminar on marketing, motivation and the creative process which was beneficial in all ways.
Yesterday we took the train into San Francisco, attended a very exciting San Francisco Giants game, who ended up beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-0. It was a new experience for our international students, giving them a taste of a true american past time. Today we are in the classroom on the Stanford campus, and our guest speaker, Camille Jones is speaking on Environmental Science and Policy. She will be also be addressing the movie we watched called " For the love of Water, " and teaching us how to set up town meetings to give the students tools for making change at the local level.
We have had technical difficulties posting our photos, but please be patient. We promise to get them up later today. Thank you for sending such wonderful, respectful, intelligent and insightful students to our program. We all enjoy their energy, leadership, humor, curiousity and committment to learning. We continue to have fun as a small community of leaders whether we are in the classroom, enjoying evening activities or sharing our stories at other moments throughout our busy nights and days!
